Al Qaeda Murders more Civilian Sunnis

al Qaeda in Iraq is punishing Takfir Sunnis...

First, they recruited estranged Sunnis in Iraq to fight Americans and British. This worked until the Sunni Militias discovered the black hearts of al Qaeda in Iraq, who murder their own brothers. In the last few weeks, thousands of Sunni fighters have defected to the Iraqi government.

Someone then decided the traitors had to pay.

Yesterday, al Qaeda in Mesopotamia conducted another in a series of anti-Kafir-Sunni attacks. First they baited the trap by assassinating a senior Sunni official, Allawi al-Issawi,and three hours later when the funeral procession had gathered, they sent in a suicide bomber that killed many more Sunnis.

This two-step process to mass murder is a frequent tactic of al Qaeda. Since this tactic has now spread to the Palestinian territories, and since many suicide bombers come from Africa, there is a possibility al Qaeda will try it here. Local officials can take steps to prevent the success of these tactics, if they plan.

  • Local police should secure the funeral path.
  • They should ask local family of the assassinated individual to check each person allowed into the secure area.
  • They should have their own snipers in hidden areas aimed at each check point
  • They should have a blast barrier of shrapnel absorbent material near each check point, so that if a person kills themselves, the shrapnel will be kept from the mourners,

The Open Net Inititiative and and the Open Inteligence Community

There is a market increased in government attempts to monitor and filter the Internet, for a variety of reasons, according to a recent study by the Open Net Initiative.

They found evidence of interference by:

Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Burma/Myanmar, China, Ethiopia, India, Iran, Jordan, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Sudan, Syria, Tajikistan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, UAE, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Yemen.

Some responses by to the study focus on government interference, others focus on which regions are more likely to interfere, and some even the roles of the service providers in Censorship.

It is also important for the Open Source Intelligence Community to track these efforts.

The study sites several ways to influence Internet traffic

First, there is technical blocking
  • Blocking of services like VOip, which reduce government revenue from phone taxes
  • Blocking of general sites which contain politically or religiously offensive material
  • Blocking of keyword and word pattern sites; for example, Morocco filtering any site that discusses the secession and establishment of the Country Western Sarah.
  • Blocking specific urls and IP Addresses.
  • Pressure on Internet Service Providers, such as China put on Google.

Legal

  • Intimidation and harassment of bloggers (Egypt, for example)
  • Passing laws targeted at Internet users.
  • Satellite phone prohibition

Second, there is Surveillance

  • Spy ware such as Key stroke logging software
  • Other website History reporting spy ware
  • Server based Spy ware that tracks email

Key questions for the Open Intelligence Community to answer:

  • Who is taking which measures?
  • What level of sophistication exists?
  • What group in the government is taking the political lead, and why?
  • What group is taking the technical lead and why?
  • Do all parts of the government know?
  • If not, why not?

Though it is a common practice for satellite image sites like google earth to blur or alter sensitive sites, knowing which government is trying to filter out these web sites show us which governments have seen satellite pictures they wish were hidden.

7 Point to Plan to Defeat al Qaeda World Wide

  1. No More conventional invasions and occupations of any country. Division and Chaos is their plan. Every time ANY Secular state goes in, it provides Capital to Jihad. Capital to recruit world wide, to claim legitimacy, and to raise money.
  2. Investigate each and every bombing in new countries, looking for impostors claiming to come from some unhappy local group. The bombing will be designed to create at least animosity and hopefully civil war. If they succeed, this will bring Capital to Jihad.
  3. Develop careful partnerships with Secular Muslim states, (Saudi, Arabia, Turkey, Jordan, Egypt, sharing intelligence washed of sources, equipping them to fight al Qaeda's attacks against them.
  4. Monitor al Qaeda Funding, recruitng, transportation and equipping networks. al Qaeda clearly uses open source communications in most cases, and I hope these networks are as well understood by the professional intelligence community as they are to the open source intelligence communities. Don't shut the networks down, but use them to gather intelligence for pre attack raids to destroy grouped al Qaeda forces.
  5. Be prepared to conduct short notice raids in any country in the world that is hostile, under governed, or a failed state. Establish multi-level communication links and relationships with these places now, so that you can ask for their invitation, but willing to do the raids if these places refuse. Get in, Get out. No long bases. Anything longer than a week or two is too long.
  6. There are a series of dynamics that impact al Qaeda's activities. Sunni animosity toward toward al Qaeda in Iraq, the rising threat of Shia evangelism, The growing power of China, India, and Indonesia, each with their own agendas. Secular Islamic activism.
  7. Encourage non-imperialistic economic partnerships:
  • World Business to local business, world NGO to local NGO Relationships, that foster Independence, not dependence.
  • Empower Muslims living in peace in secular countries to participate in government.
  • Recognize and stimulate entrepreneurship.
  • Devleop forums of all kinds that share best practices that develop economies in environmentally sound ways.
  • Develop private companies inside poor countries that compete for World Bank Funds which target specific poverty reduction measures. Not Grants: socialism has a hard time developing innovation. Invest in coaching for Entrepreneurs in poor countries. Find those already entrepreneurs and help them figure out how to solve poverty in their own country.

Then, al Qaeda will be killed and become irrelevant over a very few years.

Abu Mussaab Abdul Wadud North Africa Recriting Video

The following Story is alleged to have come from Al Jazeera, but I can't verify that. This is a brand new source so I publish it here with some reveration.
-Shimron

DUBAI - The purported chief of the Al-Qaeda branch in North Africa urged his followers to join the "war between infidels and believers", in a videotape broadcast Wednesday on Al-Jazeera news channel.
The tape showed testimonies from the three suicide bombers in April 11 attacks in Algiers that killed 30 people and wounded more than 220 others, and also the preparation of the car bombs purportedly used in the bombings.
"It is a crusade against Islam and a decisive war between the infidels and the believers," said Abu Mussaab Abdul Wadud in the videotape whose authenticity could not be verified.

China and Sudan: The Drug dealer and his Protector

China has become a Sudan Protector, and and like a drug addicted strong man, It will protect its Thug drug supplier, no matter how destructive Sudan becomes. The drug in question is oil.

China this week announced a massive new oilfield. But, even though it may be largest find in its history, the entire field carries only a 3 year Chines supply, even at current usage levels, which expands every year. For every 100 liters of oil China burns, 40 must be bought from outside China. Enter Sudan, in the middle of genocide and atrocity, isolated, with few friends. So China has decided to become Sudan's protector.

China supported Sudan's refusal of more UN Forces to protect Darfur. Yet when the forces were agreed to by Sudan, China announced that it would be sending an Engineering Unit as part of the build up of forces.

This is not to say China has been a bad world citizen (in Africa - No emails, please, about Human Rights and religious persecution-we will save that for another day) According to the Atlantic Council in Washington DC, China Has been active in many African peace keeping situations, including:
  • UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO), September
    1991–present, 214 military observers.

  • UN Operation in Mozambique (ONUMOZ), December 1992–December 1994,
    20 military observers.

  • UN Observer Mission in Liberia (UNOMIL), September 1993–September
1997, 33 military observers. They came back again in December 2003–present. China sent a peacekeeping force of 550 people to Libya at the request of UN special representative Clarke.

  • UN Observer Mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMISL), October 1999–present, 24
    military observers.

  • UN Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea (UNMEE), October 2000–present, 15
    military observers.

  • UN Organization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUC),
April 2001–present, 20 military observers. They then sent an engineering company of 175 soldiers and a medical team of 43.

My point is that China and Sudan, like the US and Saudi Arabia, have a complex oil-laced relationship. China has never worried much about charges of human rights violations anyway.

That being said I am concerned about Chinese Engineers deploying to Sudan. When they deployed to Liberia, it was at the invitation of the UN. All other deployments as you can see above, were to send Advisers.

(Photo from xinhuet.com UN Troops in Liberia)

Therefore, I expect Chinese Imperialism to be a growing factor in International Sudan relations.

Though China has an alleged non-interference policy with other countries, as they grow into their coming Superpower Role, Imperialism in Africa may be hard to resist, when a Thug Drug dealer is feeding your oil addiction.

The Mind of the Religious Extremist, Explained to the Humanist

There have been recent attempts by the practitioners of the Humanist Religion (National Public Radio, The various Humanism organizations), to promote the idea that Religion of all or any kind are good, comforting and useful as long as they are constructive toward the ends of the Human development cause; that it is, they make humans and or human society better. Last night there was a television program on Public Television that described the Mormon faith from an anthropological point of view, answering the question "How does the Mormon faith make people better citizens of the world?"

This is not a criticism. It is a clear belief system, no less logical, in human terms, than the extrapolation of Islam, Christian, or Buddhist principles into a system of beliefs which helps us live better as humans. It is an attempt to give God or the Higher power, if there is one that matters, its due as we live out our existence and prepare for inevitable death. In this way of thinking, true faith evolves in our attempt to make an impact beyond ourselves with the life-time we have available.

If this is your belief system, you will have a couple of challenges understanding the mind of those who believe otherwise.

First, you have to know your assumptions, and acknowledge that they may not be universal. You cannot assume that someone who holds to a system other that the Humanist view does it through ignorance. Many Humanists, by default, evangelize through education. Someone who has chosen a different belief system deliberately will not respond, no matter how humanely logical and fair minded your ideas might be. It is not their ignorance or unenlightenment that is the problem. Any education attempt without acknowledging these facts will be understood as hegemony . The very best hope for the Humanist is that their ideas will be tolerated but unsuccessful.

Second, you have to actually read their texts. The Koran, The Bible, The Talmud. Learn what they teach. The Humanist reads and extrapolates principles that work in accordance with a universal but as yet unarticualted Human Standard. The fundamentalist believers of Other faiths believe and try to daily put in practice all the teaching of their texts. They believe that Human life has no real meaning outside their faiths.
Here are some questions to research:
  1. Does the Koran teach that all of life is under submission to God, that there is everything not in submission to him that will eventually be brought into Submission? YES
  2. Does the fundamental Koran teach that the Spreading of Islam through war is acceptable?YES
  3. Does the Koran itself teach that Jihad against non Muslims is an obligation?YES
  4. Does the Koran teach that it is acceptable to use alms given by Muslims to support Jihad? YES
  5. Can men, under the direction of God, force this on unbeliever?YES

If the Koran teaches these things, then The fundamental Muslim sees the Humanist as in need of redemption, of being brought into Submission to God.

How will the Humanist reason with him?

Next

  1. Does the Bible teach that all of life is under submission to God, that everything not in submission to him that will not be brought into Submission? YES
  2. Does the fundamental Bible teach that the Spreading of Christianity through war is acceptable? NO
  3. Does the Bible teach that sharing Christ is an obligation? YES
  4. Does the Bible teach that it is acceptable to use alms given by Muslims to support War? NO
  5. Can men, under the direction of God, force this on unbeliever? NO

Check me out, verify my Facts. Then decide:

What Should a Humanist Do about Jihad?

New Mogadishu Mayor Demands Turn in of Weapons

I think I read this exact same report 5 Months ago....

MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) - A former warlord who has long lived by his gun was sworn in as mayor of Mogadishu on Friday and immediately ordered residents of the Somali capital to get rid of their weapons.

But Mayor Mohamed Dheere offered no clear details on how that could be accomplished in a city awash in Kalashnikov rifles, machine-guns and hand grenades. Previous efforts to get residents to give up their weapons have been unsuccessful.

Al Qaeda's Guerilla War in Africa

Che Geuvarra, in his book "Guerrilla Warfare" quotes His friend Joe Marti' as saying:

"He who wages war in a country, where he can avoid it, is a criminal, just as he who fails to promote a war which cannot be avoided is a criminal."

Al Qaida seems to have taken this strategic approach in Africa. Though most of the social conditions, the history, the regions, the cutures are different their methods are the same.

Therefore, it is worth a study of their movements and doctrine.

Other Guerrilla warfare movements:

Cossacks,
Mao Zedong,
Abd el-Krim,
T. E. Lawrence,
Vo Nguyen Giap,
Josip Broz Tito,
Michael Collins,
Tom Barry,
Che Guevara,
Ho Chi Minh,
Charles de Gaulle.
A note: Most of the above movements failed, ending in the violent death of their leaders,
unless they were fighting alongside, or in conjunction with, a regular army.

UK Citizens Attend al Qaida Training without Government Knowledge?

Jonathan Clayton in Johannesburg and Michael Evans of the London Times report that British Nationals are not required to show a visas from London before transfering to flights to Pakistan , where they attend al Qaida training.

  • Shezhad Tanweer, two of the July 7 suicide bombers, had visited Pakistan before July 7 and received instructions from al-Qaeda figures,
  • Kenya, Tanzania and Madagascar have visas available on arrival, and South Africa requires no visas for stays less than 90 days.
  • About 30,000 British Pakistanis fly to Pakistan every year
  • The Rest @ The Times Online

It is my guess that the UK probably tracks those who fly through, even without visas. It would be a good plan to track known al Qaida sympathizers (who have not yet commited a crime) to Pakistan, ( where they commit a UK crime by going to al Qaeda training) and follow them around for a few days to get more names, then arrest them.

-My concern is for the African countries that are NOT tracking their people who go to al Quida training and hten come home.

Arabs Weigh in on Sudan

There was an interesting meeting this last weekend, alegedly called by and occuring in Tripolli, Libya. It was a sort of public "intervention" With Sudan on Darfur. Egypt Commited troops to the Peace keeping force. All good, But at first glance it looks more like Arab cover for Sudan. First pass at the Rehortic shows that the Libya and other Arab sates are setting themselves up as mediators between Sudan and the rest of the world as the world gets ready to bring Real Sanctions.

...I think it will get Sudan more time to accomplish its goals..Were there any more clandesined arms shipments into Northern Africa during this conference?

Algeded Attendees were Representatives from:
  • Libya
  • Sudan
  • Chad
  • Egypt
  • Eritria
  • the five permanent members of the UN Security Council
  • the European Union
  • the League of Arab States

Intersting but not surprising to note that neither Ethiopia nor Uganda was there. This was an Arab party, the EU and UN were guests.

Muammar Gaddafi Opened the session and

  • Accused Darfur rebels of seeking to internationalize the conflict.
  • Cautioned the international community against too much intervention in the Darfur issue.

The 2 Day meeting ended and they released a communique, the Tripoli Consensis

Gaddafi again sets himself up as the Arab Link to Africa, and puts himself in position to intervene diplomatically in the future if the UN troops get too close to the Janjueed.

Finance House (GFH) is strictly dedicated to the international Islamic banking industry. The company was established on October 16, 1999 in the Kingdom of Bahrain, as an Islamic investment bank, and has a paid-up capital of US$65m, as well as an authorised capital of US$150m.

Last week, GFH outlined a new five-year growth strategy for the region - a plan that will surely build on GFH's outstanding progress over the last 12 months.

Net profit for 2006 was up 51% to US$212m, and the bank's assets stood at US$1.5bn at the close of the year. The bank's average return on equity was 41%, while return on paid-up capital was almost 100%, and the board of directors was able to approve a dividend payout of US$159.5m - 75% of the stated value of the paid-up capital.

Earlier this week, the US Department of the Treasury's order to freeze the assets of a variety of Viktor Bout companies was extended to the entire world by the UN Security Council's sanctions committee. All assets belonging to the persons and organisations named in this list are now subject to confiscation anywhere in the world.

The list is, certainly, a little out of date. Several of the operating companies listed have ceased activity, and there is no mention of Phoenix Aviation, Jet Line International, or Aerocom among others. (The delay between the US Treasury's action and this action is apparently due to the time it took the Office of Foreign Assets Control to pass on documents to the UN, that and Russian objections to the inclusion of Viktor's brother, Sergei, founder of Air Bas and CET Aviation.) However, a non-trivial number of aircraft continue to fly in the name of firms named by the UN.

This leaves two lines of action: one, to identify the newer firms, and two, to make the UN blacklist a reality. It's time to find these aircraft and demand their seizure. All bloggers are invited to mirror this and help land them on the fire dump, which is where most of these planes will end up given their age and general condition.

The list is currently as follows, correct as of today:
UN-76497, Ilyushin 76-D. Serial number 43402039. This is probably the aircraft referred to in the UN list with MoldTransavia, and is now with GST Aero, repeatedly referred to in UNSC Expert Panel reports. It was also involved in the events detailed here. The most recent photo is here.

SANTA CRUZ IMPERIAL
EL-AHO, Ilyushin 18D. Serial number 183006205.
EL-ASC, Antonov 12BP. Serial number 3340909.
EL-ASJ, Antonov 12BP. Serial number 402112 (doubtful)
EL-AHT, Antonov 26A. Serial number 6004 (doubtful)
EL-ALC, Antonov 26A. Serial number 87307104.
EL-ALT, Antonov 26A. Serial number 17311805.
No recent photos available.

IRBIS AIR COMPANY
UN-42428, Yakovlev 42D. Serial number 45204223046. Recent photo here. (Leased to Sudan Airways, believed operating to Iraq)
UN-75002, Ilyushin 18D. Serial number 185008603. Recent photo here.
UN-75003, Ilyushin 18D. Serial number 184006903. Recent photo here.
UN-75004, Ilyushin 18D. Serial number 186009202. Not very recent photo here.
UN-75005, Ilyushin 18D. Serial number 187010204. Recent photo here.
UN-26582, Antonov 26B. Serial number 47313504. No photo since 2002. (Leased to Ariana Afghan Airlines)

AIR BAS

3C-KKO, Antonov 12BP. Serial number 1901706 (No photos available)
GAMBIA NEW MILLENIUM
C5-GNM, Ilyushin 62M. Serial number 3036142. Recent photo here.
SAN AIR GENERAL TRADING
3C-QRF, BAC-111. Serial number 61. Not very recent photo here. (Operated for SAGT, owned Jetline International)
TRANS AVIATION GLOBAL
UN-B7201, Boeing 727. Serial number 22045. Recent photo here.
UN-B2707, Boeing 727F. Serial number 21861. No photos yet.
UN-B****, Boeing 727. Serial number 22046. Recent photo here.
Notes: Most of the Santa Cruz aircraft are probably beyond finding, but even negative information is worth having. Air Bas has largely been closed down at least as aircraf t registration is concerned - 3C-KKO is the last known active aircraft in their name. 727 no. 22046 was last seen undergoing considerable engineering work and may not look much like its photo.

What you can do: 1). Mirror this post. 2) If and when a plane is located, tell the world. 3) Demand its confiscation - try the civil aviation authority of the country in question. Post what you said, and the contact for the person you said it to. 4) Encourage others to do so.
