Libya Sets up the first Stock Exchange
A ceremony was held Sunday evening in Tripoli to inaugurate the headquarters of the Libyan Stock Exchange Market amidst the mass celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of the declaration of People's Authority and the birth of the first Jamahiriya in history.
The inauguration was attended by Secretaries of GPC's for Economy, Trade and Investment, Planning, Industry, Minerals , Culture and Information , Health and Environment, in addition to the Chairman of the Board of the Libyan Stock Exchange Market, Secretary of Fairs Administration, General Union of Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a number of banks, financial institutions and Insurance Companies Directors and Economic Activists.
A visual presentation was shown highlighting the different steps and phases of establishing this market and its role in economic and investment activities. It is worth noting that the Libyan Stock Exchange Marker was established in accordance with a decree no. ( 34 ) for 2006 issued by the General People's Committee.
