Two Bombings in 48 Hours in Algeria
At least 37 people were killed on Saturday (September 8th) in a car bomb attack on a coast guard barracks in Dellys, Algeria, 100km east of the capital.
El Khabar reports that two suicide bombers hijacked a supply van, filled it with explosives and drove it through the rear entrance of the barracks before detonating it.
According to hospital sources, most of the victims were naval officers.
At least 47 people, including three civilians, were wounded in the attack,
the second in 48 hours following a suicide bombing in Batna that killed 22 people and injured more than 100. On Saturday, al-Jazeera reported that the al-Qaeda Organisation in the Islamic Maghreb claimed responsibility for both attacks in an Internet statement.
